The New Underwater Sculpture Park off Grayton Beach State Park
The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) in partnership with the South Walton Artificial Reef Association (SWARA) will introduce the Underwater Museum of Art (UMA) this Summer. The UMA is North America’s first underwater permanent sculpture exhibit!
A one-acre patch of seabed off Grayton Beach State Park has been dedicated for the purpose of this exhibit. The Underwater Museum will create a sustainable marine habitat and expand fish populations in South Walton while also providing enhanced cultural and educational opportunities for residents and visitors of South Walton. And while this museum does not require an official entry fee, in order to visit it, diving gear and a boat ride to the dive site will be needed.
The CAA and SWARA revealed the seven sculptures selected for the first installation of the UMA at a fabulous fundraiser at Grand Boulevard. Featuring a concert by Shawn Mullins, our Haute Finds South Walton team was there to soak up all the details of this amazing new local amenity!
